DHAKA: Gold prices have fallen again in Bangladesh, with the price of 22-carat gold dropping to Tk 228,031 per bhori, including VAT. Prices of 21-carat, 18-carat and traditional-method gold have also been reduced.

The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) announced the new prices in a notice issued at 10am on Tuesday (October 13). The revised rates represent a decrease across all categories of gold compared with the previous prices.

Under the new rates, 22-carat gold, the highest-quality category, costs Tk 228,031 per bhori (11.664 grams), including VAT. The price of 21-carat gold has been set at Tk 217,773 per bhori, 18-carat gold at Tk 187,124, and traditional-method gold at Tk 152,798.

Previously, 22-carat gold was selling at Tk 231,297 per bhori, including VAT. The latest decision has reduced its price by Tk 3,266 per bhori.

The price of 21-carat gold has fallen by Tk 3,143 per bhori, while 18-carat gold has dropped by Tk 2,591 and traditional-method gold by Tk 2,158.

BAJUS said the new prices will remain in effect until further notice. Making charges will vary depending on the design of the jewellery. As VAT is included in the selling price of gold and silver jewellery, retailers cannot collect it separately from customers.
