Afghanistan reached 214 for four in pursuit of a 479-run target against Bangladesh on the final day of the Abu Dhabi Test, with the Tigers needing six more wickets to win.
After taking three wickets late on the fourth day, Bangladesh began the final day in a strong position. However, Afghan batters mounted a determined resistance, with the pitch offering less turn than expected and allowing them to play Bangladesh’s spinners with relative ease.
Bangladesh managed just one wicket in the first session, taken by pacer Ebadot Hossain. The Tigers now face a challenging task to claim the remaining six wickets in the final two sessions.
Sediqullah Atal was unbeaten on 76, while Ismat Alam remained at the other end as Afghanistan needed another 265 runs for victory.
