GAZIPUR: A major fire broke out at the Drug International Pharmaceuticals factory in Tongi, Gazipur, on Wednesday morning, with 12 Fire Service units working to bring the blaze under control.
The fire broke out at around 10:30am on October 14. Firefighters rushed to the scene and began efforts to extinguish the flames. Additional units were being dispatched in view of the intensity of the fire.
The incident sparked concern in the surrounding areas. However, the cause of the fire, the extent of the damage and whether there were any casualties were not immediately known. Further details are expected after the fire is brought under control.
Shaheen Alam, senior station officer of Tongi Fire Service, told the media at around 11:30am that 12 units were working to control the blaze. He expressed hope that the fire would be brought under control soon.
