A joint team of the Special Response Battalion (SRB-6) and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB-21) seized 6.597kg of crystal meth, locally known as ice, worth Tk 329.85 million in Khulna.
The drugs were recovered from an abandoned consignment during a search of a bus travelling from Satkhira to Khulna near the Zero Point Bus Stand in Harintana on Tuesday night.
The information was disclosed in a BGB press release signed by Lieutenant Colonel Md Nafiz Imtiaz Ahsan, commander of the Khulna Battalion (21 BGB), on Wednesday afternoon.
According to the release, BGB has strengthened intelligence surveillance and patrol activities to detect smuggling networks and prevent the trafficking of drugs and other contraband.
As part of these efforts, BGB-21 and SRB-6 conducted the joint anti-smuggling operation in the Zero Point area on October 13 and recovered the crystal meth.
Lieutenant Colonel Ahsan said such operations would continue to prevent drug trafficking and other forms of smuggling inside the country and along the borders.
