Food Minister Afrozza Khanam has relieved her Assistant Private Secretary (APS), Mohammad Abdul Awal Bulbul, of his duties for visiting a government food warehouse without informing her.
Bulbul visited the Nagarpur Upazila Food Controller’s office and food warehouse in Tangail on October 11 after an official tour schedule was issued on October 8.
According to sources at the Ministry of Food, the minister was unaware of the visit.
Upon learning about it, she summoned Bulbul to her office the following day and verbally relieved him of his responsibilities.
Mohammad Rafiqul Islam, a personal officer to the minister, was also served a show-cause notice over allegations that he helped prepare the tour schedule.
The ministry sources said the visit was not part of the APS’s authorised duties. Several government officials reportedly accompanied Bulbul on the trip.
Confirming the decision, Food Minister Afrozza Khanam said Bulbul had been relieved of his duties because he visited the warehouse without informing her.
