A Dhaka court on Thursday sentenced Syed Sohanur Rahman Siam, son of retired Public Service Commission (PSC) driver Syed Abed Ali Jibon, to four years in prison in a corruption case involving the acquisition of assets beyond his known sources of income.
Dhaka Divisional Special Judge BM Tarikul Kabir delivered the verdict in the morning, Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) lawyer Delwar Jahan Rumi confirmed.
The court also fined Siam Tk20,000, sentencing him to an additional six months in prison if he fails to pay the fine.
It further ordered the confiscation of assets worth Tk31.81 lakh held in his name, which were found to be beyond his known sources of income.
