DHAKA: Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has demanded an immediate investigation into alleged irregularities, corruption, nepotism and political favouritism in the appointment of fertiliser dealers, blaming the practices for shortages and hardship among farmers across the country.
The party made the demand at an emergency press briefing at its central office in Moghbazar on Thursday, protesting the fertiliser crisis and alleged irregularities in dealer recruitment.
Jamaat Assistant Secretaries General Maulana Abdul Halim, Advocate Muazzam Hossain Helal and Advocate Ahsanul Mahbub Zubair, who also serves as secretary of the party’s central publicity and media department, attended the briefing.
Members of the party’s central executive council, including MP Principal Md Izzat Ullah and Advocate Matiur Rahman Akand, were also present.
