Cox’s Bazar sea beach has become crowded with tourists and local visitors ahead of the five-day Durga Puja holidays, with large numbers of people arriving from different parts of the country during the weekend.
As the weather improved, Kolatoli, Sugandha and Laboni points became bustling with visitors on Friday afternoon.
Tourists were seen enjoying the sea waves, taking photographs and spending time with family members and friends.
The influx of visitors has also been reported at other popular destinations, including Marine Drive and Himchhari Waterfall.
Lifeguards remain alert at major beach points to prevent accidents involving swimmers.
Red flags have been displayed in areas where swimming conditions require caution.
Cox’s Bazar district administration said ensuring tourists’ safety and preventing harassment and overcharging remain priorities, with monitoring in place to protect visitors.
More than 600,000 tourists are expected to visit Cox’s Bazar during the five-day Durga Puja holidays from October 20 to 24, according to tourism-sector estimates.
