New Delhi, October 17: All India Students’ Association (AISA) president Neha Bora was released on Saturday morning, while Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke remains in custody following their detention ahead of a planned protest in New Delhi.

The two activists were detained on Friday ahead of the “Lehra Do Tiranga” protest march at Connaught Place, which was organised to demand the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the revision of electoral rolls.

Bora was released after the completion of formalities under Section 65 of the Delhi Police Act.

Police initiated action against Dipke under Sections 126 and 170 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), citing preventive measures to maintain peace.

Dipke is expected to be produced before a Special Executive Magistrate later on Saturday.

The detentions drew criticism from student organisations and opposition leaders, who questioned the police action and raised concerns over the activists’ access to legal assistance.
