CHATTOGRAM: An activist of a local unit of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) was shot dead and another person injured in an attack by miscreants in Barabkunda of Sitakunda upazila in Chattogram on Friday night.
The deceased was identified as Tarek Hossain Bappi, 26, son of Ali Ahmed of Madhyam Mahdabad area in the upazila.
Mujibur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Sitakunda Model Police Station, said the attackers opened fire in front of an office belonging to one Olinagar Saddam at around 11pm, leaving two people injured.
The injured were taken to Chattogram Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared Tarek dead.
Police are working to arrest those involved in the attack, the OC said.
