Dhaka: Bangladesh Under-19 scored 250 for eight in their first youth ODI against Afghanistan at Al Amerat Stadium in Oman on Saturday, thanks to half-centuries from Rakibul Hossain, Ahsan Al Mumin and opener Jarif Siyam.
Rakibul remained unbeaten on 79 off 78 balls, hitting six fours and a six, to guide Bangladesh to a competitive total. Mumin scored 54, while Jarif made 50.
Sent in to bat, Bangladesh made a disastrous start but Jarif held the innings together with a confident knock, laying the foundation for the middle and lower order.
After Bangladesh slumped to 111-5, including Jarif’s dismissal, Rakibul and Mumin combined for a crucial 117-run partnership for the sixth wicket.
Following Mumin’s departure, Rakibul took charge and guided the lower order to help Bangladesh reach the 250-run mark.
Imran Mohammadi was Afghanistan’s most successful bowler, claiming three wickets for 57 runs, while Lutfullah Mohammadi took two for 25.
