NEW DELHI: Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke was released on conditional bail on Saturday after signing a fresh peace bond, a day after he was detained while heading to join the party’s “Lehra Do Tiranga” protest at Central Park in Connaught Place.

According to Delhi Police, Dipke was arrested on Saturday morning for allegedly violating a peace bond he had furnished on October 10. He was subsequently granted conditional bail and released after signing another peace bond.

Dipke had been detained near his residence on Friday while on his way to the protest, which was organised by the CJP at Central Park in the heart of the Indian capital.

The latest action followed the earlier peace bond, which police alleged Dipke had breached. His release came after he agreed to furnish a fresh bond, allowing him to leave custody subject to the applicable conditions.

The developments drew attention to the restrictions imposed on Dipke following his earlier undertaking to maintain peace. However, details of the alleged violation and the specific conditions attached to his latest release were not immediately available.

The CJP’s “Lehra Do Tiranga” protest was scheduled to take place at Central Park in Connaught Place. Dipke’s detention prevented him from reaching the venue on Friday, while his release on Saturday followed the completion of the required legal formalities.

Further details about the police action and the conditions of his bail were awaited. Source: India Today
