EC allows voter area change until October 31

The Election Commission (EC) has given citizens who have recently changed their residence an opportunity to change their polling centres or voter areas ahead of the upcoming local government elections.

Eligible voters will be able to apply for the transfer by October 31, according to an instruction sent by the commission’s relevant department to field-level officials on Saturday.

Under the EC’s schedule, verification of the necessary documents and issuance of relevant papers must be completed by November 3, while all applications must be finally settled by November 5.

The commission has issued the necessary instructions to officials to complete the process within the stipulated deadlines.

The EC plans to begin holding local government elections across the country from January next year, starting with union parishads in phases.
