Kumari Puja drew crowds of devotees to temples in Dhaka on Monday as Hindu devotees celebrated Maha Ashtami, one of the main days of Durga Puja.
The ritual was held at Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission in Dhaka at 9:30am, with devotees gathering to offer prayers and seek blessings.
Kumari Puja involves worshipping a young girl as a symbolic embodiment of Goddess Durga and the divine feminine. It is an important part of Maha Ashtami celebrations in Hindu tradition.
Devotees also offered anjali (flower prayers) at Dhakeshwari National Temple and other temples across the country. Sandhi Puja, which marks the transition between Maha Ashtami and Maha Navami, was another key ritual of the day.
Durga Puja began on Friday with Maha Shashthi and will conclude on Wednesday with Bijoya Dashami and the immersion of idols.
