A video circulating on social media following reports of the execution of two Bangladeshis in Saudi Arabia over alleged indecent acts at a mosque in Makkah has been described as false and misleading by a media outlet covering news and information related to the Two Holy Mosques.  The information was published in a report on Tuesday.

According to the report, Saudi authorities executed two Bangladeshi nationals on October 14 over allegations of indecent acts. A statement from the Saudi Interior Ministry identified them as Nazrul Islam Abdul Basir and Siti Akhtar.

However, the ministry did not provide details of the alleged incident or specify which mosque in Makkah was involved.

Saudi authorities said they were committed to ensuring security and justice by enforcing the law against offences that violate the sanctity of mosques and infringe upon the dignity of others.

Following news of the executions, a video showing a man and a woman began circulating on social media. Various captions accompanying the footage claimed that it was linked to the alleged offences committed by the two Bangladeshis.

However, an account on X, formerly Twitter, that shares news and information about the Two Holy Mosques said the claims associated with the video were misleading. The footage did not constitute evidence of the executions or establish a connection with the two Bangladeshis, the report said.

The report added that no immediate comment was available from the Bangladesh Embassy in Saudi Arabia.
