Rajshahi: Members of the Special Response Battalion (SRB) recovered 103 crude bombs from a lychee orchard on the outskirts of Rajshahi city early Wednesday.
The bombs were found abandoned inside a cement sack during a drive in the Aduburi Uporimath area at around 2:00am, according to a press release issued by SRB-5.
Acting on information, SRB members conducted the operation in the area and searched the orchard, where they discovered the sack containing the crude bombs. The explosives were kept together in the abandoned sack.
The law enforcers subsequently seized all 103 crude bombs, the press release said.
The recovery has raised concerns over the possible use of crude bombs in criminal activities or acts of violence. However, the circumstances under which the explosives were brought to the orchard and the identities of those responsible were not immediately known.
The SRB did not provide further details about any arrests or the possible motive behind the incident in the initial statement.
