Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthi group has claimed another “precision” ballistic missile attack on King Khalid International Airport in Saudi Arabia’s capital, Riyadh.

Yahya Saree, spokesperson for the armed group, announced the claim in a statement posted on social media platform X, saying Houthi forces had launched a ballistic missile at the airport.

Saree also claimed that the group had carried out several drone attacks targeting crude oil pumping stations in eastern and western Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia said it had detected and intercepted a Houthi ballistic missile heading towards Riyadh. Hours after the announcement, the Houthi spokesperson issued a statement claiming an attack on the capital’s airport.

The Saudi-led coalition fighting in Yemen said it had struck two missile launch sites in the Yemeni capital, Sanaa. However, Saudi authorities have not confirmed the reported attack on Riyadh airport.

On Sunday, the Houthis also claimed attacks on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, King Khalid Air Base in Khamis Mushait and a naval base in Jizan.

The Houthis have accused the Saudi-led coalition of carrying out at least 56 airstrikes in Yemen within 24 hours. The reported strikes targeted areas in the provinces of Hodeidah, Lahj, Amran, Saada, Al Jawf, Taiz and Ibb.

The armed group has been claiming repeated attacks on Saudi Arabia in recent days. On Saturday, the Houthis said they had carried out seven attacks targeting airports, oil facilities and military bases in the kingdom.
