Persistent rainfall has caused severe waterlogging in several parts of Dhaka, including Kakoli, Banani, Mirpur, Khilkhet and sections of the Airport Road, disrupting traffic since Sunday morning.
One of the worst-hit areas is beneath the Banani ramp of the Elevated Expressway, where accumulated rainwater has left vehicles stranded and created long tailbacks.
In response, the Gulshan Traffic Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has urged motorists and pedestrians to avoid unnecessary travel.
In an advisory, the traffic division said continuous heavy rainfall had caused widespread waterlogging beneath the Banani ramp of the Elevated Expressway, as well as in Khilkhet and other low-lying areas of the capital.
As a result, traffic has slowed significantly, with congestion reported at several locations.
The advisory noted that vehicles descending from the Elevated Expressway at Kakoli intersection, along with those using the surface road, are facing particularly difficult conditions and should proceed with extra caution.
Traffic police also advised motorists to drive slowly through waterlogged areas, maintain a safe distance from other vehicles, use alternative routes where possible, avoid non-essential travel, and follow traffic instructions.
