The funeral prayers (namaz-e-janaza) of former Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Barrister Jamir Uddin Sircar will be held at the South Plaza of the National Parliament at 5pm today.
Following the funeral prayers, he will be laid to rest at the designated burial site within the parliament complex, according to the Parliament Secretariat’s Public Relations Wing.
The information was confirmed in a notice signed by Rashed Mizan, Assistant Director (Public Relations Wing-1) of the Bangladesh Parliament Secretariat.
Meanwhile, Chief Whip Nurul Islam expressed deep sorrow over the death of the former speaker.
In a condolence message, he prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed his heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family.
He also said Sircar’s sudden demise had cast a shadow of grief over the country’s parliamentary and political circles.
In a separate message, Deputy Speaker Barrister Kaiser Kamal also mourned Sircar’s passing, praying for the forgiveness of the deceased and extending his deepest condolences to the bereaved family.
