The Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief has allocated Tk 4.60 crore in cash and 8,950 metric tonnes of rice for humanitarian assistance across all 64 districts since July 7, aiming to support people affected by floods and other natural disasters.

In the first phase, seven vulnerable districts—Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Khagrachhari, Rangamati, Bandarban, Sherpur and Kurigram—received Tk 60 lakh and 1,200 metric tonnes of rice.

The remaining 57 districts were each allocated Tk 500,000 and 100 metric tonnes of rice.

As the flood situation worsened, the government announced additional support on July 9. Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar each received Tk 20 lakh, along with 300 and 250 metric tonnes of rice respectively.

The hill districts of Khagrachhari, Rangamati and Bandarban were each given Tk 10 lakh and 200 metric tonnes of rice, while Moulvibazar received Tk 500,000 and 100 metric tonnes.

Further allocations followed on July 10, with Chattogram receiving an additional Tk 500,000 and 200 metric tonnes of rice to strengthen ongoing relief efforts.

On July 12, fresh assistance was approved for Chattogram and Rangamati. Chattogram was allocated Tk 25 lakh and 500 metric tonnes of rice, while Rangamati received Tk 500,000 and 100 metric tonnes.

The ministry said the allocations are part of ongoing efforts to bolster emergency response and ensure food security for communities affected by floods and other disasters nationwide.
