Bus workers have suspended services from Rajshahi to Dhaka and all other routes across the country indefinitely from Monday evening following a dispute over the formation of an election management committee for the motor workers’ union.
The shutdown, triggered by disagreements between transport owners and workers during a meeting at the Deputy Commissioner’s office, has left hundreds of long-distance passengers stranded at bus terminals.
Talks with the administration are underway to resolve the crisis, according to transport owners’ association General Secretary Nazrul Islam Helal.
