The Institute of Nuclear Medical Physics (INMP) and the National Institute of Cancer Research and Hospital (NICRH) on Wednesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at expanding cancer treatment services, reducing patient waiting times and improving access to advanced cancer care across Bangladesh.
The agreement was signed at the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in Dhaka, according to a press release.
Under the MoU, the two institutions will work together in cancer patient management, radiation oncology, medical physics, quality assurance, research, education, professional training and technological development.
Officials at the signing ceremony said cancer patients from different parts of the country often experience lengthy delays in receiving treatment at NICRH because of the heavy patient load, affecting the effectiveness of therapy.
As part of the collaboration, INMP will provide modern cancer treatment services alongside NICRH, helping ease pressure on the country’s premier cancer hospital and enabling pati treatment more quickly.
The partnership is also expected to strengthen the country’s overall cancer care capacity by making specialised treatment services more widely available.

NICRH Director Dr Mostafa Aziz Suman and INMP Director Md Selim Reza signed the agreement on behalf of their respective institutions.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Husain attended the ceremony as the chief guest.
Health Services Division Secretary Md Kamruzzaman Chowdhury, Science and Technology Secretary Md Anwar Hossain, Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services Dr Prabhat Chandra Biswas, Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission Chairman Dr Moinul Islam and senior officials from both institutions were also present.
