HSC examinees on Wednesday staged a blockade at the Science Laboratory intersection in the capital for the second consecutive day, pressing a three-point demand that includes the resignation of the education minister.
Following their pre-announced programme, the students took to the streets after completing their examinations before beginning a planned march toward the Ministry of Education.
The blockade halted traffic through the busy Science Lab intersection.
To prevent any untoward incidents, police deployed additional personnel across the area.
The students blocked the intersection at around 2:35 pm on Wednesday (July 15).
Around 2:30 pm, examinees from different educational institutions were seen gathering at the intersection before sitting on various sections of the road, bringing traffic to a standstill and causing long tailbacks in surrounding areas.
A large number of police officers were also seen on alert.
During the demonstration, the students chanted slogans including, “One demand, one goal — resignation of the education minister,” along with other protest chants.
They also carried placards calling for the suspension of HSC and equivalent examinations, the education minister’s resignation, and the implementation of their three-point demands.
