Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed on Friday said the government remains fully prepared to tackle the ongoing flood situation and that joint relief efforts by government agencies and private organisations are continuing to support flood-affected communities.
Speaking to reporters after distributing relief among flood victims in the Fashiakhali area of Chakaria upazila in Cox’s Bazar, he said the government stands by the people and will continue providing assistance during the crisis.
The minister said assessment activities are underway in flood-hit areas across the country.
Once the surveys are completed, necessary measures will be taken to rehabilitate damaged roads, educational institutions, embankments and other infrastructure, as well as support affected farmers so they can return to normal life as quickly as possible.
After the relief distribution programme, Salahuddin visited flood-damaged embankments, roads and homes in the Chharakul area of Chakaria.
He spoke with affected residents, listened to their concerns and instructed local authorities to take prompt and effective action.
Officials from the Home Ministry, Reserved Seat MP Advocate Shamima Ara Swapna, Cox’s Bazar Deputy Commissioner Abdul Mannan, Chakaria Upazila Nirbahi Officer Shahin Delwar, and other officials were present.
