Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Professor Mia Ghulam Parwar has alleged that “Delhi, or India, is controlling the remote of all political unrest and oppression in Bangladesh.”
Speaking as the chief guest at the Narsingdi District Jamaat members’ conference held at the Narsingdi Shishu Academy auditorium on Friday (July 17), Parwar made the remarks while addressing party members.
He said that any constitutional or political disputes should be resolved through Parliament. Urging the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) to avoid pushing the country toward confrontation, he said the party should respect the outcome of a referendum and work through Parliament to provide a legal basis for the July Charter and implement reforms.
Parwar added that if political demands cannot be achieved through Parliament, there may be no alternative but to take to the streets. However, he noted that the nation has endured 18 years of political violence, arson, strikes, and shutdowns, and said it is now the BNP’s responsibility to prevent the country from returning to such instability.
Commenting on discussions about former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s possible return to Bangladesh, Parwar said the matter is for the government and legal authorities to decide. He added that the wounds from the violence of July and August have not yet healed and claimed that millions of people are demanding justice for what he described as acts of brutality. He also said the public does not want what he called a “fascist force” to regain political rights.
Parwar further alleged that “Delhi is behind all political conspiracies and acts of oppression in Bangladesh.” He accused India of violating international law, prisoner exchange agreements, and the Geneva Conventions by providing technological facilities and comfortable conditions to a convicted death-row prisoner. He added that Bangladesh seeks friendly and fair relations with all neighboring countries.
The conference was chaired by Narsingdi District Jamaat organizer Md. Ibrahim Bhuiyan. Special guests included Central Executive Council member Saiful Alam Khan Milon, Central Working Committee member Maulana A.F.M. Abdus Sattar, Central Working Committee member Mashiul Alam, and other party leaders.
Earlier in the day, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami also organized a workshop for its district-level Rukon (full members) in Narsingdi.
