Bangladesh’s junior women’s hockey team continued their glorious run in the Women’s Junior AHF Cup with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Kazakhstan in Muscat, Oman, on Friday night.
Tonni Khatun starred for the team and was named player of the match for her outstanding performance, helping Bangladesh secure another crucial win in the round-robin tournament.
With this victory, Bangladesh remain in strong contention for the title and are set to face Kazakhstan again in the final match, scheduled for Saturday at 10:15 pm Bangladesh time.
The girls in red and green have been dominant throughout the tournament.
They opened their campaign with a commanding 6-0 win over Hong Kong China, followed by a narrow 1-0 victory against Uzbekistan.
In their third match, Bangladesh delivered a stunning performance, thrashing Pakistan 8-0 to underline their superiority.
The Women’s Junior AHF Cup features five teams—Bangladesh, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Hong Kong China—competing in a round-robin format. The team finishing at the top of the standings will be crowned champions.
Bangladesh’s consistent performances have placed them firmly on course for the title, with one final hurdle left to overcome.
