One dies, 242 hospitalised with dengue in 24 hours

Bangladesh reported one more death from dengue and 242 new hospitalisations across the country in the past 24 hours, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In a dengue update issued on Saturday, the DGHS said the latest fatality raised this year’s death toll from the mosquito-borne disease to 33.

Of the newly admitted patients, 77 were hospitalised in Dhaka North City Corporation, 35 in Dhaka South City Corporation, 21 in Dhaka Division outside the two city corporations, 40 in Khulna Division, 38 in Chattogram Division, 21 in Mymensingh Division, and 10 in Barishal Division.

With the latest infections, the total number of dengue cases recorded in the country this year has risen to 10,012.

According to the DGHS, 61% of this year’s dengue patients are male, while 39% are female.

A total of 9,067 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospitals so far this year.
