Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Abu Abdullah M Saleh on Friday said the government is implementing its election manifesto and the July Charter simultaneously, describing the twin initiatives as part of its broader effort to bring qualitative changes to the country.
Speaking at a press briefing at the Prime Minister’s Office to mark the government’s five months in office, Saleh said the administration is focusing on delivering tangible results rather than making promises.
He criticised the previous government, alleging that despite extensive claims of development, conditions had deteriorated in many areas, particularly in religious, social and family values.
“Without improvements in moral and family values, sustainable development in any sector is not possible,” he said.
The press secretary said Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is working tirelessly to bring meaningful change through action rather than rhetoric and called on people from all political ideologies to work together for a prosperous Bangladesh.
He stressed that despite differences in political opinions, all stakeholders should remain united on issues of national interest and nation-building.
Saleh also said the Prime Minister is promoting greater public engagement, moving away from what he described as a culture of personality worship. He noted that the premier is regularly visiting different districts and interacting directly with people.
Referring to the national budget, the press secretary described it as a people-friendly budget, saying that no major price increases or market instability had occurred following its passage, which he termed a significant achievement of the government.
