New Delhi: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said preventing leaks of competitive examination question papers is “not just the government’s responsibility, but a national responsibility.”
Referring to the NEET examination paper leak, Modi said strict action is being taken against those involved.
“We will not allow anyone to play with the future of millions of students. Those who have corrupted the examination system are being tracked down, and arrests are being made across the country. They will face the strictest punishment under the law,” he said.
The prime minister added that the government is working to make the examination system more transparent and reliable through legal and administrative reforms aimed at preventing paper leaks.
“Protecting the dreams and future of India’s youth is the government’s highest priority. The central and state governments, the administration, and all sections of society must work together to eliminate irregularities in examinations,” Modi said.
Responding to criticism from opposition parties over the paper leak controversy, Modi said the issue should not be viewed through a political lens.
“It should be seen in the interest of students’ future. Our objective is to ensure an impartial investigation and strict action against those responsible,” he said.
Meanwhile, New Delhi witnessed widespread protests on Monday over the alleged NEET paper leak, as the Congress-led opposition’s “Sansad Chalo” march demanded the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Police set up barricades and used water cannons and tear gas at several locations to stop protesters marching towards Parliament, leading to repeated clashes throughout the day.
