The government has decided in principle to offer special aviation benefits to Probashi Card holders, including discounted air tickets, lounge access, and priority airport services.
The announcement was made by Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam during a meeting at the Bangladesh Secretariat on implementing the Probashi Card initiative. She said expatriate Bangladeshis will receive discounts on Biman Bangladesh Airlines tickets and access to the Balaka Lounge at reduced rates.
“We have taken initiatives to ensure all kinds of facilities and benefits for our expatriate brothers,” the minister said, adding that the government aims to make air travel more convenient and hassle-free for them.
Under the project, Probashi Card holders will also receive priority check-in and boarding benefits at airports, helping to streamline their travel experience.
Highlighting recent improvements, the minister noted that a shuttle bus service has already been introduced at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport to enhance passenger convenience.
State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism M. Rashiduzzaman Millat said more benefits are being considered under the programme. These may include special discounts at hotels and motels operated by the Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation.
Officials said the Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry will take necessary steps to implement these benefits , ensuring smoother airport services for expatriates.
Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Ariful Haque Choudhury emphasized the need for coordination among ministries and relevant agencies to successfully roll out the initiative.
The Probashi Card programme, included in the government’s election manifesto, aims to provide easier access to services and exclusive benefits for Bangladeshi expatriates. Senior officials from relevant ministries and agencies were present at the meeting.
