The International Crimes Tribunal-2 (ICT-2) has ordered authorities to produce Major (retd) Mozaffar Hossain before the tribunal on July 23 in connection with the assassination case of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman.
The order was issued by a tribunal led by Justice Nozrul Islam Chowdhury after accepting a petition filed by Chief Prosecutor Md Aminul Islam.
According to the prosecution, Lt Gen (retd) Masud Uddin Chowdhury—an accused in a crimes against humanity case linked to the July Mass Uprising—had alleged connections with Major (retd) Mozaffar Hossain. Investigators believe these links, including conversations between the two, require further examination.
“We sought a production warrant to interrogate him regarding these connections, and the tribunal has granted our request,” the chief prosecutor said.
Major (retd) Mozaffar Hossain was arrested by the Detective Branch (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police from the capital’s DOHS area on July 15. He was later handed over to the Military Police at Dhaka Cantonment.
The tribunal’s order paves the way for further interrogation as part of the ongoing investigation.
