NASA and its international partners will hold two news conferences on August 3 to discuss the upcoming SpaceX Crew-13 mission to the International Space Station (ISS), marking the crew’s final media appearance before heading to Florida for launch preparations.

The first briefing, scheduled for 12:00 p.m. EDT, will provide an overview of the mission, followed by a 2:00 p.m. EDT news conference featuring the four-member Crew-13 team, who will discuss their training and readiness for the flight.

The mission is expected to launch no earlier than mid-September aboard a SpaceX Dragon spacecraft atop a Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida.

Crew-13 will include NASA astronauts Jessica Watkins and Luke Delaney, Canadian Space Agency (CSA) astronaut Joshua Kutryk, and Roscosmos cosmonaut Sergey Teteryatnikov.

The mission will mark Watkins’ second journey to the ISS, making her the first NASA astronaut to fly twice aboard a SpaceX Dragon spacecraft. She previously spent 170 days in space during the Crew-4 mission in 2022 and is known for her work as a geologist studying the Martian surface.

The flight will be the first space mission for Delaney, Kutryk and Teteryatnikov. Delaney is a former U.S. Navy test pilot, Kutryk previously served as a Canadian fighter pilot and test pilot, while Teteryatnikov is a Russian naval engineer who joined the Roscosmos cosmonaut corps in 2021.

Mission leaders from NASA, the Canadian Space Agency and SpaceX will participate in the mission overview briefing, while the astronauts will take questions during the second session before traveling to NASA’s Kennedy Space Center for final launch preparations.
