Bangladesh is set to take another step toward building a competitive semiconductor industry as it hosts the second edition of the Bangladesh Semiconductor Symposium and BEAR Summit 2026 on July 25-26 at the National Science and Technology Museum (Novotheatre) in Dhaka.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will inaugurate the two-day event, which aims to integrate Bangladesh’s semiconductor sector into the global value chain, develop skilled human resources, promote research and innovation, and attract greater investment.
The announcement was made on Thursday by Science and Technology Secretary Md Anwar Hossain during a press conference at the Gulshan Club in the capital.
Jointly organized by the Bangladesh Semiconductor Industry Association (BSIA) and the Ministry of Science and Technology, the summit will bring together policymakers, researchers, industry leaders, entrepreneurs and technology experts from home and abroad to discuss the country’s growing semiconductor ecosystem.
The symposium will focus on Bangladesh’s current position in the semiconductor industry, opportunities to participate in the global market, strategies for expanding research and innovation, workforce development, and attracting domestic and foreign investment.
Following the inaugural session, local and international experts will exchange views on the future of Bangladesh’s semiconductor industry, international collaboration, and technology-driven industrialization. The discussions are expected to explore ways to strengthen the country’s role in the global semiconductor supply chain while fostering innovation and high-tech manufacturing.
The press conference was attended by BSIA President and DBL Group Managing Director M.A. Jabbar and BSIA Vice-President and Mars Solutions Managing Director M.E. Chowdhury Shamim. The event was moderated by symposium convener Dr Muhammad Mustafa Hussain, a globally recognized electronics scientist and professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Purdue University in the United States.
According to BSIA, the summit will highlight Bangladesh’s progress in the semiconductor sector, investment opportunities, international partnerships, and a roadmap for securing a stronger position in the global semiconductor value chain. It will also emphasize coordinated efforts among the government, universities, research institutions and the private sector to accelerate the growth of the country’s high-tech industry.
