The inaugural edition of Notun Kuri Sports 2025-26, one of Bangladesh’s largest grassroots sporting events involving more than 100,000 children and teenagers nationwide, will conclude on Monday with a grand closing and prize-giving ceremony.
The event will take place at the Bangladesh Army Stadium in Dhaka at 4:00 pm, with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman attending as the chief guest, according to a Press Information Department (PID) handout issued on Sunday.
The nationwide programme was launched on May 2, 2026, from the Sylhet District Stadium with the goal of identifying promising young athletes from the grassroots and encouraging greater participation in sports among children across the country.
Organisers said the first edition has set a new benchmark for youth sports in Bangladesh by attracting an unprecedented number of participants from all regions of the country.
Competitions were held in eight disciplines—football, cricket, kabaddi, athletics, badminton, chess, swimming and martial arts.
Following contests at the upazila, district and regional levels, the national finals in Dhaka will bring the country’s largest grassroots sports programme to a close.
