India’s external intelligence agency RAW Chief Parag Jain has arrived in Dhaka on an official visit amid efforts to normalise relations between Bangladesh and India.
A government source told that Jain is leading a four-member high-level delegation at the invitation of the relevant Bangladeshi authorities.
Neither country, however, has officially disclosed details of the Indian delegation’s visit.
Jain serves as secretary of the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), India’s external intelligence agency, and also as special secretary of the Special Protection Group (SPG).
The delegation accompanying him includes Ashwin Mukund Kotnis, Rahul Negi and Shaibal Ray Chowdhury.
They arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on an Air India flight around noon on Sunday.
The government source confirmed that the delegation will stay at a hotel in Dhaka during the visit.
Before travelling to Bangladesh, Jain visited China.
