Police have arrested three people, including Advocate Ziaul Islam Kajal, a lawyer for former Narayanganj City Corporation mayor Selina Hayat Ivy, in connection with an old case over remarks about “Joy Bangla”.
The arrests were made during separate raids at their homes on Allama Iqbal Road and Deobhog Pakka Road early Wednesday, said Tarek Al Mehedi, additional superintendent of police (crime) in Narayanganj.
The other two arrested are lawyer Mahbubur Rahman Tushar and Kajal’s brother, Atikul Islam.
Kajal is a former president of the Narayanganj Cultural Alliance and a recitation artist. Tushar is the son of Mohammad Asaduzzaman, a former public prosecutor at the Narayanganj District and Sessions Judge Court.
