GLASGOW, July 30: Australia continued its dominance at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, leading the medal table with a strong performance in swimming, while India made significant progress with impressive displays in weightlifting, athletics and para-sports.

Australia topped the standings with 26 gold, 13 silver and 20 bronze medals (59 total), followed by England with 8 gold, 13 silver and 11 bronze medals (32 total) and Canada with 7 gold, 8 silver and 6 bronze medals (21 total). Nigeria and hosts Scotland completed the top five.

The Glasgow Games, which began on July 23 and will continue until August 2, feature athletes from 74 Commonwealth associations competing across 215 medal events in 10 sports, including para-sport categories.

India has so far collected 13 medals — two gold, eight silver and three bronze — placing it among the leading Asian nations at the Games.

South African swimming star Chad le Clos became the most decorated athlete in Commonwealth Games history after winning his 21st medal at Glasgow 2026. His record collection includes seven gold, five silver and nine bronze medals across five editions of the Games.

With athletics, boxing, cycling and other events still underway, several countries are expected to challenge for more medals before the closing ceremony on August 2.
