The government currently has no plan to increase gas prices, Petrobangla and the Energy and Mineral Resources Division said on Saturday, urging the public not to be misled by recent media reports suggesting a possible tariff hike.
In a public notice issued following reports published by several media outlets, the authorities clarified that no proposal is currently under consideration to raise gas tariffs.
“The government has no plan to increase gas prices at this moment,” the notice said.
Petrobangla and the Energy and Mineral Resources Division requested all concerned not to be confused or influenced by speculative reports regarding a possible increase in gas prices.
The clarification came amid growing public discussion following recent media reports suggesting that gas prices could be raised.
