Jet fuel price hiked

9 August 2026 22:54 Updated: 9 August 2026 22:54

The price of jet fuel has been increased, with the new rate for domestic flights set at Tk 159.52 per litre, according to a revised pricing decision.

The latest hike comes after a series of reductions in jet fuel prices in recent months. The previous domestic rate was Tk 165.88 per litre, which was cut in May.

The revised price has been set by the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) under the market-based fuel pricing mechanism, which takes into account international Jet A-1 prices, exchange rates and other relevant costs.

The adjustment could have an impact on airlines’ operating costs, particularly as jet fuel represents a significant portion of their expenses.

Any sustained increase in fuel costs may also put pressure on airfares.

The new rate will remain effective until the next revision by the regulator.
