Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has begun a meeting with Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Dinesh Trivedi.

The meeting began at 11am on Monday at the Prime Minister’s Office in the Secretariat, said Jahidul Islam Rony, Deputy Press Secretary-1 to the Prime Minister.

The meeting comes a day after Trivedi said Bangladesh’s prime minister was widely respected and described him as a people-oriented leader.

Speaking at the inauguration of a children’s play area at the Indian Visa Application Centre (IVAC) at Jamuna Future Park on Sunday, Trivedi said he had heard Tarique Rahman’s speeches several times and considered him a people-friendly leader.

He said he believed that many problems could be resolved through discussions between the two leaders—Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“Problems are solved when we talk,” Trivedi said, expressing confidence that dialogue between the two countries would lead to solutions.

He also said there was nothing negative in the relationship and that “everything is positive.”
