The death toll from a powerful 7.4-magnitude earthquake in western Colombia has risen to 181, while rescue teams continue searching for people trapped beneath collapsed buildings and debris.
The earthquake struck early Monday, causing widespread destruction in several areas, including Pereira, Cali and communities in the Chocó region near the epicentre.
More than 1,300 people have reportedly been injured, while hundreds remain missing, according to local reports.
Rescuers, supported by soldiers, emergency workers and local volunteers, have been working around the clock to locate survivors.
In some areas, people have been using their bare hands to clear rubble, while heavy equipment has been deployed where possible. Several survivors, including a baby, have reportedly been pulled alive from the debris.
The earthquake damaged or destroyed homes, schools and health facilities, while power and communications were disrupted in some remote communities.
Continued aftershocks and blocked roads have further complicated rescue and relief operations.
Authorities have warned that the casualty figures could change as search teams gain access to more affected areas.
