A new Pew Research Center survey has found that 43% of Pakistanis consider India their country’s greatest geopolitical threat.
The survey, released on August 13, shows that Israel and the United States were each identified as the next-biggest threats by 24% of Pakistani respondents.
India and Pakistan continue to view each other as their primary geopolitical threat. In India, 54% of respondents named Pakistan as the biggest threat, followed by China at 21%.
The survey also examined how people in South Asia view neighboring countries, including Bangladesh.
Notably, 66% of Pakistanis expressed a favorable view of Bangladesh, while 54% of Bangladeshis had a favorable view of Pakistan.
The findings highlight the deep-rooted mistrust between India and Pakistan, while public perceptions toward Bangladesh remain comparatively positive in Pakistan.
