Dhaka: Temporary gusty or squally winds accompanied by rain or thunderstorms may sweep across several parts of the country, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department has forecast.
The information was released on Saturday by the department’s Storm Warning Centre in its forecast for inland river ports.
According to the weather bulletin, temporary gusty or squally winds from the south or southeast, accompanied by rain or thunderstorms, may blow at speeds of 45 to 60 kilometres per hour over Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar. River ports in these areas have been advised to display Warning Signal No. 1.
Regarding the weather in Dhaka and its adjoining areas, the forecast said the sky may remain temporarily cloudy, with light to moderate rain or thundershowers likely. Winds may blow from the south or southeast at 10 to 15 kilometres per hour. Daytime temperatures may remain unchanged.
The department also said day and night temperatures across the country may fall slightly, while moderate to heavy rainfall could occur in some areas.
On Saturday, sunset in Dhaka will be at 6:32pm, while sunrise on the following day will be at 5:34am.
