The nomination papers of BNP-backed candidate Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and 11-party alliance candidate Oli Ahmed will be scrutinised today (Sunday) for the upcoming presidential election.

Election Commission officials said the Chief Election Commissioner, acting as the election officer, will begin examining the nomination papers at the Election Commission building at 10am and continue until the process is completed.

A total of three nomination papers have been submitted—two for Oli Ahmed and one for Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.

According to the election schedule, candidates can withdraw their nominations until 4pm on August 18.

The 23rd presidential election is scheduled to be held on August 20.
