Never thought I’d become president: Fakhrul

BNP-nominated presidential candidate Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said he never imagined that he would become president, describing his nomination as a blessing from his party and Almighty Allah.

“Even if I become president, I want to remain beside the people and serve them,” Fakhrul said while speaking with leaders of the Thakurgaon Journalists Forum Dhaka at his official residence on Hare Road in the capital on Tuesday.

He said he would continue to stand by the people and work for the development of his area regardless of how busy he remained.

Leaders of the Thakurgaon Journalists Forum Dhaka congratulated Fakhrul on his nomination as the next president during the meeting.

The meeting was attended by leaders and members of the organisation, including its president Manik Muntasir, general secretary Delwar Hossain, chief news editor of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha Manikul Azad and other senior journalists.
