DMP arrests 506 in Dhaka in 24-Hour

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 506 people during a 24-hour anti-crime drive across the capital. During the operation, 55 cases were filed against them at different police stations across the city.

The drives were conducted from midnight Tuesday to midnight Wednesday. The DMP disclosed the information in a press release issued on Thursday.

According to the DMP, the arrested individuals include 25 from the Ramna division, 45 from Lalbagh, 65 from Wari, 47 from Motijheel, 41 from Tejgaon, 120 from Mirpur, 93 from Gulshan, 63 from Uttara and seven from the Detective Branch.

The DMP said the operation also resulted in the recovery of two switchblades, 27.51 kilograms of cannabis, 5 grams of heroin, 231 yaba tablets, one Ena bus, one truck, 17 motorcycles, eight mobile phones, Tk 267,000 in stolen cash, 597.73 grams of gold jewellery and 4 bhori, 15 ana and 5 rati of stolen gold jewellery.
