The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has decided to raise gold prices in the domestic market once again. This time, the price has been increased by Tk 3,849 per bhori, taking the price of 22-carat gold to Tk 240,628 per bhori, including VAT.
BAJUS announced the decision in a notice on Thursday (August 20) morning. The new price came into effect at 10am today.
According to the notice, the price of pure gold (Tejabi gold) has increased in the local market. Considering the overall situation, BAJUS has revised the gold prices, including VAT.
BAJUS said the new prices will remain effective at all jewellery shops until further notice. However, making charges will apply depending on the design of the jewellery.
As VAT is already included in the selling price of gold and silver jewellery, jewellers cannot collect VAT separately from customers. The previous BAJUS rules will remain in effect for jewellery exchange and purchases, excluding applicable VAT, making charges and the price of stones.
Before this, BAJUS last adjusted gold prices on the morning of August 15. On that occasion, it increased the price by Tk 2,158 per bhori, setting the price of 22-carat gold at Tk 236,779 per bhori, including VAT.
