US technology giant Google has brought a major opportunity for university students by announcing a one-year free subscription to its premium artificial intelligence service, ‘Google AI Pro’, for registered college students in the United States.
The service normally costs $200 a year, or $20 a month, for regular customers. The move is believed to be aimed at increasing the number of users and engagement with Google’s chatbot, Gemini, by offering students special access to the service.
Under the ‘Google AI Pro’ subscription, students will receive four times more access to Google’s artificial intelligence model ‘Gemini’ than regular users. They will also have access to ‘Spark’, an automated agent-based platform. In addition, Gemini will be directly integrated into Google Workspace applications such as Gmail and Docs.
The offer is not limited to artificial intelligence features. Students who are not particularly interested in using AI will also find significant benefits in the package. Under the promotion, users will receive 5 terabytes of cloud storage free of charge. The package also includes ‘Google Health Premium’, which can be connected to Fitbit and other health-tracking devices.
Google has also introduced an opportunity for students outside the United States. Students in other countries will receive a one-year free subscription to ‘Google AI Plus’. It is essentially a basic service priced at $5 per month, offering access to ‘Gemini Omni’, double usage limits and 400GB of cloud storage.
In addition, Google has introduced an affordable bundle combining AI Pro and YouTube Premium, which will be available for just $9 per month.
However, students should be particularly careful about one issue when taking advantage of the offer. Once the specified one-year period ends, the service will automatically renew and the regular subscription fee will begin to be charged.
Therefore, it is important to remember to cancel the subscription before the free one-year period expires. This is particularly significant for students who plan to make extensive use of the cloud storage.
