Police arrested Bidisha Ershad, the second wife of late former president and Jatiya Party founder Hussain Muhammad Ershad, from Gulshan in Dhaka on Tuesday night.
Gulshan Police Station Officer-in-Charge Daud Hossain confirmed that she was arrested around 8:30pm on August 25 based on a court-issued warrant.
Bidisha was sentenced to two years’ rigorous imprisonment and fined Tk10,000 in a fraud case filed in 2008 over an alleged scam involving the sale of a flat at President Park in Baridhara.
The sentence was handed down by a Dhaka metropolitan magistrate on May 20, 2026.
Police said her arrest was carried out to execute the warrant issued following the conviction.
