Two police officers were injured when a group of activists allegedly attacked and vandalised a police vehicle after officers tried to stop a procession organised by banned Chhatra League activists in Gopalganj Sadar upazila on Saturday.

The incident took place around 3pm on October 24 in the Burimar Gachtala area of Raghunathpur, where activists of the banned Chhatra League and Jubo League were holding a procession in support of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina.

A patrol police team attempted to stop the procession, prompting the protesters to attack the police vehicle with sticks and break its windows.

Two police officers sustained injuries after being struck with sticks during the attack.

Gopalganj Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Aminul Islam confirmed the incident, saying police were conducting operations to arrest those involved.
